HOPE MINISTRIES
ABOUT US
The History of Abundant Hope Ministries
Abundant Hope Ministries was launched in September 2006, to be an expression of the heart that God has given Matt & Darlene Woodhouse for orphans, widows and refugees around the world. One of our primary goals is to build and support orphanages and safe-homes where orphans can be loved and cared for and where widows can live with dignity. In all that we do, and with each individual we minister into, we desire to see God "restore hope - inspire vision - fulfill destiny".
The Mission of Abundant Hope Ministries
Our mission is to restore hope to the lives of every person that we meet. Whether through an orphanage, a mission trip, a leadership academy, or a church; whether through prayer and preaching or through practical kindness, hope in Christ is the starting point. As hope is restored, vision becomes clear and dreams, once lost, are reignited once again. We are convinced that when any person, no matter who they are, receives the hope of God in their life, they are only a step away from embracing the amazing destiny that God has planned for them.
The Family Model of Our Orphanages
Psalm 68:6 says that the Lord “sets the lonely in families.” Therefore, our aim is to set Abundant Hope orphanages up as families, not institutions. Every orphanage will be overseen by a local pastoral couple who will provide each orphan with their family name. The family unit consists of not only a group of children, but also of abandoned widows. In this new family, the children bring renewed purpose in life and vitality to the older women and the older women provide care, wisdom, and love to the children. We believe that this model uniquely expresses the heart of God towards the fatherless and the widows.
"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit". Ps 34:18
